1 c almonds, sliced (or substitute pecans, walnuts or nut of your choice) .
2 1/2 tbsps butter or margarine .
1 1/2 c powdered sugar .
1/4 lb butter or margarine, plus .
Bars .
3 c sweetened flaked coconut .
2 c flour .
2 tsps lime zest .
2 tbsps fresh lime juice .
Glaze .
2 c light brown sugar, firmly packed
Directions
Step #1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Step #2 Combine flour, sugar, & salt in a bowl.
Step #3 Cut in margarine until mixture resembles coarse meal.
Step #4 Press crust into ungreased 10 by 15-inch baking pan.
Step #5 Bake for 15 mins or until golden brown.
Step #6 Beat eggs in a medium bowl until frothy; add nuts, brown sugar, & coconut & mix well.
Step #7 Spread mixture over baked crust.
Step #8 Bake an extra 30 mins or until set.
Step #9 While still warm, loosen the edges with a metal spatula.
Step #10 Mix together the powdered sugar, lime juice, & zest with a fork.
Step #11 Working quickly, spread the glaze all over the top this with a spatula while still warm (Very important! It won't spread easily after it cools.
Step #12 The alternative is to double the glaze).
Step #13 Let cool to about room temp & cut into bars.
