Christmas Bread Pudding Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 pinch ground cloves
  • 1 1/2 c shredded Colby longhorn cheese
  • 1 c white sugar
  • 1 c raisins
  • 1 c sliced walnuts
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 c water
  • 6 slices white bread, toasted & cut into cubes

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C.
  • Step #2 ) Grease a 2 quart casserole dish.
  • Step #3 Set aside.
  • Step #4 In a medium saucepan, heat sugar until it liquefies.
  • Step #5 Insert a candy thermometer & cook sugar without stirring until it reaches 320 degrees F (160 degrees C).
  • Step #6 It will be a clear, amber colored syrup.
  • Step #7 Add the water, cinnamon & cloves.
  • Step #8 Bring to a boil, reduce heat, & let simmer.
  • Step #9 Stir in vanilla.
  • Step #10 Layer in prepared casserole dish: half the toast, half the nuts, half the raisins, half the syrup, & half the cheese.
  • Step #11 Repeat layers.
  • Step #12 Bake uncovered for 30 mins.
  • Step #13 Serve warm.
