Plum Torte Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 c Raisins 4 c Bread; white, coarsely torn
  • 1/4 c Rum or 1 tsp rum extract & w 3 c Milk
  • 2 c Pears; peeled, sliced, ripe 3 Eggs
  • 1/2 c Sugar 1 ts Vanilla

Directions
  • Step #1 preheat your trusty oven to 350F.
  • Step #2 Heat rum mixture & pour over raisins; set aside.
  • Step #3 Melt 1 tbsp of butter in frypan, add pears & cook 5 mins.
  • Step #4 Add 1/4 c sugar, stir & cook 2 more mins & then put aside.
  • Step #5 Place bread in bowl.
  • Step #6 Scald milk & pour over bread.
  • Step #7 Let soak 5 mins.
  • Step #8 Add raisin mixture & pears with syrup.
  • Step #9 Beat together eggs, rest of sugar, vanilla & stir in the bread mixture.
  • Step #10 Pour in buttered baking dish, bake this at 350F for 50 mins.
  • Step #11 mom's recipe, similar to a recipe her Aunt Truie served.
