Ingredients
  • 1 tb Lemon juice
  • 1 ts Grated lemon peel
  • 1/3 c Sugar

  • 2 tb Light corn syrup
  • 1/2 c Sliced almonds

  • Step #4 2 ts Milk Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Step #5 Grease 9 or 8" round cake pan.
  • Step #6 Sprinkle top almonds in pan.
  • Step #7 In small saucepan, mix remaining topping ingredients; bring to a boil.
  • Step #8 Reduce heat; simmer 4 mins, stirring every once in awhile.
  • Step #9 Pour mixture over almonds.
  • Step #10 In small bowl, mix 1/3 c sugar & nutmeg; mix well.
  • Step #11 Separate dough into 2 long rectangles.
  • Step #12 Overlap long sides; firmly press perforations & edges to seal.
  • Step #13 Roll or press out to for 14 x 8" rectangle.
  • Step #14 Sprinkle top sugar mixture evenly over dough.
  • Step #15 Starting at longer side, roll up.
  • Step #16 Firmly pinch edge and ends to seal.
  • Step #17 Cut into 1" slices; place, cut side down, over topping.
  • Step #18 Bake for 20 to 25 mins or until golden brown.

  • Step #20 In small bowl, mix powdered sugar, almond extract and enough milk for desired drizzling consistency; mix until smooth.
