Ingredients
  • 1/8 ts Cream of tartar
  • 8 Red apples
  • 1 1/4 c Water
  • 3 c Sugar
  • Red food coloring

Directions
  • Step #1 Wash & dry apples.
  • Step #2 Insert wooden sticks.
  • Step #3 mix sugar, & water in heavy, cream of tartar, deep saucepan.
  • Step #4 Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture begins to boil.
  • Step #5 Add food coloring to desired shade.
  • Step #6 Boil until syrup reaches 300F degress (brittle stage).
  • Step #7 Dip apples in syrup & twirl unti they are covered evenly.
  • Step #8 Place on buttered sheet to cool.
