Ingredients
  • 2 tb Creme de Cassis
  • 4 Oranges, seeded and very thinly sliced
  • 4 Lemons, seeded and very thinly sliced

Directions
  • Step #1 A simplified version of a fruit confit that traditionally is included in the 13 or more sweets served at Reveillon in France & Quebec.
  • Step #2 Peel the fruits, removing bitter pitch.
  • Step #3 In a medium saucepan (nonreactive) place a layer of sliced oranges and Sprinkle top lightly with sugar.
  • Step #4 Place a layer of lemon slices on top and Sprinkle top with sugar.
  • Step #5 Continue adding fruit in alternating layers, each time sprinkling with sugar, until all the fruit & sugar are used.
  • Step #6 Cover & put in the fridge overnight.
  • Step #7 Place uncovered saucepan over medium-low heat & bring fruit and sugar to a light boil, stirring every once in awhile, approximately 30 mins.
  • Step #8 Allow fruit to cool.
  • Step #9 stir in the Creme de Cassis & serve this with chocolate cake or mousse.
