Onion & Bacon Tart - Flammekueche Recipe

Ingredients
  • 6 ea Medium onions
  • 8 ea Slices bacon
  • 1/2 c Soft bread crumbs
  • 3/4 c Hot stock or water
  • 4 ea Medium apples

Directions
  • Step #1 Peel & cut the onions in 1/8 inch slices.
  • Step #2 Peel, core, & cut the apples into similar slices.
  • Step #3 Saute bacon & remove this from the pan and mince.
  • Step #4 Take out two tbsps of the bacon fat & toss the bread crumbs in the remainder.
  • Step #5 Grease a baking dish.
  • Step #6 Arrange the onions, apples, & bacon in alternate layers.
  • Step #7 Pour over hot stock or water.
  • Step #8 Cover the top this with the bread crumbs.
  • Step #9 Cover the dish & bake it for 30 mins at 375 degrees.
  • Step #10 Uncover & bake it about 15 mins longer.
