Ingredients
  • 8 oz Loaf French bread, in 1" sl
  • 1/8 ts Ground cinnamon
  • Butter for greasing
  • 4 lg Eggs; slightly beaten
  • 1 c Half-and-half
  • 1/8 ts Ground nutmeg
  • 1 c Milk
  • 1 ts Vanilla

Directions
  • Step #1 --TOPPING----- 1/2 c Unsalted butter; softened 1 c Lt brown sugar; packed 2 tb Maple syrup 1 c Coarsely sliced pecans 1.
  • Step #2 Heavily butter a 9-inch square baking dish.
  • Step #3 Fill dish with bread slices.
  • Step #4 2.
  • Step #5 In a medium bowl, milk, mix eggs, vanilla, half-and-half, cinnamon & nutmeg.
  • Step #6 Pour egg mixture over bread.
  • Step #7 Cover and put in the fridge overnight.
  • Step #8 3.
  • Step #9 To make the topping: The next day, in a small bowl mix butter, brown sugar & maple syrup with a fork.
  • Step #10 stir in the pecans.
  • Step #11 Spread topping evenly over bread.
  • Step #12 4.
  • Step #13 Bake, uncovered, in a preheated 350-degree oven until puffed and golden, about 40 mins.
