Quick  Sauerbraten Recipe
this is a much quicker way of making sauerbraten. Not quite the same, but really good anyway. a good way to use leftovr roast.

Ingredients
  • 2T butter
  • 2T flour
  • 2 C water
  • 1/2 C vinegar
  • 1 envelope onion soup mix
  • 1/2 C brown sugar
  • 1/2 t dry mustard
  • 1/4 C [ or less] crushed gingersnaps
  • 2 C+ leftover beef

Directions
  1. melt butter
  2. stir in flour, water, vinegar, onion soup, brown sugar , mustard.
  3. add leftover beef
  4. simmer on low heat about 20 min
  5. stir in gingersnaps, simmer about 5 min.
  6. Refridgerate 24 hrs

Recipe calls for 1/4 C gingersnaps, but I think that's too overpowering. start with less...you can always throw in some more.
So good over noodles or spaetzels
