Blackened Tilapia

BLACKENED TILAPIA This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Lewis Estate in Bedford, Texas in 1982.
Ingredients
- 6 tilapia steaks shopping list
- 2 tablespoons chili powder shopping list
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika shopping list
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper shopping list
- 1 teaspoon ground chipotle shopping list
- 1-1/2 teaspoons ground cumin shopping list
- 1-1/2 tablespoons ground garlic shopping list
- 1 teaspoon onion powder shopping list
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano shopping list
How to make it
- Combine all ingredients except tilapia and mix well.
- Spray tilapia with nonstick cooking spray then coat in spice mix.
- Heat a heavy duty skillet to very hot and spray with cooking spray.
- Cook tilapia 4 minutes per side then serve immediately.
