TOURTIERE SHEPARDS PIE

- 1 tsp vegetable oil shopping list
- 1 lb ground beef shopping list
- 1 large onion finely minced shopping list
- 1 tbsp flour shopping list
- ½ cup chili sauce shopping list
- ¾ cup beef broth shopping list
- ½ tsp thyme shopping list
- ½ tsp celery seed shopping list
- 1 clove garlic minced shopping list
- 1 cup shredded carrots shopping list
- ½ cup frozen peas shopping list
- ½ cup frozen corn shopping list
- 3-4 large potatoes shopping list
- ½ cup milk shopping list
- 2 tbsp butter shopping list
- 1-9-inch deep dish, frozen piecrust thawed) shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 375F.
- Heat oil in a large skillet set over medium-high heat.
- Brown beef and drain off any fat and add onion.
- Sprinkle with flour; stir to combine.
- Add chili sauce, beef broth, thyme, and celery seed.
- Simmer, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes or until thickened. Remove skillet from heat.
- Stir in carrots peas and corn; reserve.
- Meanwhile, cook potatoes in a large pot of boiling, salted water until fork tender.
- Drain well and whip potatoes with an electric mixer. Gradually drizzle in the milk and butter, whipping the potatoes until fluffy.
- Season, to taste, with salt and pepper.
- Fill the piecrust with the meat mixture. Top with the mashed potatoes, using the back of a spoon to swirl into mounds.
- Bake on a baking sheet, on the lowest oven rack for 45 minutes.
