Spicy Three Pepper Hummus Recipe

Spicy Three Pepper Hummus Recipe
This recipe is much spicier than the store bought versions. It also yields more servings. This recipe is also easily adaptable to make more or less spicy/garlicky to your liking.

Ingredients
  • 2 (16 oz) cans of garbanzo beans
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/8 cup of lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons of tahini paste (sesame seed paste - I like Krinos)
  • 8 cloves of minced garlic cloves
  • 2 slices of jarred jalapeno pepper, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon liquid from the jar of jalapeno peppers (add a little more if you want a little extra kick)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 3/4 teaspoon dried oregano

Directions
  1. In a food processor or blender, add the garbanzo beans, extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice, tahini paste, jalapeno, and juice from the jalapeno jar.
  2. Season with black pepper, cayenne, cumin, and oregano.
  3. Blend on a low speed to start, until the ingredients start to blend, then turn the speed up and blend until your desired consistency. Scrap the sides and blade to mix completely.
  4. Cover and refrigerate overnight to allow the flavors to blend. Make sure your container is sealed well, or your refrigerator will reek of garlic!
  5. Spread hummus into a flat serving dish and serve.
