Ashleys Sweet and Sour Pork

- Marinade: shopping list
- 3/4 pound pork tenderloin (i used 3 pork chops) shopping list
- 2-3 teaspoons soy sauce shopping list
- Pinch of cornstartch shopping list
- Sauce: shopping list
- 2 tablespoons of ketchup shopping list
- 2 tablespoon soy sauce shopping list
- 1/4 teaaspoon salt shopping list
- 1/2 cup pineapple juice shopping list
- 1/4 cup white vinegar shopping list
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch that has dissolved into 4 tablespoons of water shopping list
- Batter: shopping list
- 1/3 C. flour shopping list
- 1/3 C. Cornstartch shopping list
- 1 egg white shopping list
- 1 Tablespoon canola oil shopping list
- 1/3 cup warm water shopping list
- Additional Ingredients: shopping list
- 1 green pepper shopping list
- 1 cup pineapple chunks shopping list
- oil as needed shopping list
How to make it
- cut the pork into 1 inch cubes and marinate in the soy sauce and cornstarch for 20 minutes.
- Sauce: in a bowl combine sugar, ketchup, soy sauce, salt, pineapple juice, vinegar. set aside. In a separate bowl dissolve the cornstarch in the water.
- Batter: combine flour and cornstarch. stir in egg white and oil. add as much of the warm water that is needed for form a thick batter that is neither too dry or too moist.
- Dip the marinated pork cubes in the batter. Fry in batches until the pork is golden brown. remove and drain on paper towels.
- To prepare the sweet and sour sauce, bring the sauce ingredient to a boil in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the chopped green pepper and pineapple. Bring to a boil again and thicken with cornstarch mixture. Check the sauce one more time and adjust seasonings. Serve over jasmine rice.
