Old Fahioned Apple Pie

- Favorite pie pastry recipe for double crust shopping list
- 8 medium apples shopping list
- 1/2 cup sugar shopping list
- 2 Tbs flour shopping list
- 1 tsp cinnamon shopping list
- 1/8 tsp nutmerg shopping list
- 1/4 cup raisins ( dark or light - optional ) shopping list
- zest and juice from 1/2 lemon shopping list
- cream for top crust shopping list
- sugar for top crust shopping list
- nutmeg for top crust shopping list
How to make it
- Peel, slice apples for pie
- Mix together the sugar, flour, cinnmaon and nutmeg
- Add apples and raisins and toss to mix
- Squeeze on lemon juice with the zest and toss again
- Place apples evenly into a 9 or 10 inch pie pastry lined pie plate
- Add top crust and slash deeply in a few places
- Brush with cream and sprinkle with some sugar and a bit of fresh grated nutmeg
- Bake 425F for 15 minutes
- Lower heat to 375 and bake 45 minutes more or until pie is golden and juices start to bubble up
- Cool on rack; may serve warm, chilled or room temp
- Note: if using pyrex, decrease the oven heat by 25 F for the oven temps listed with the recipe
- Pie freezes well too

I made this last night, it was just wonderful. I needed a basic foolproof recipe for me a beginning pie maker ( sorry but I used frozen pie crust! home made maybe next time )and I wanted say how delicous it was!
