This is a slightly different take on cranberry sauce. My oldest son loves this pear sauce so much, he heats it and pours it over ice cream! You can play with the spice in it, and even substitute a tart apple for one of the pears. Read more See less

Ingredients

4 pears, peeled, cored, and coarsely chopped shopping list
1 cup cranberries shopping list
6 tablespoons water shopping list
1 tablespoon sugar shopping list
pinch cinnamon, nutmeg, or allspice shopping list
1 teaspoon grated orange rind shopping list

How to make it

In a small saucepan, mix the pears, water and cranberries. Cover and cook over medium-low heat fo 20 minutes or until cranberries pop, stirring occasionally.
Remove from heat; stir in sugar, spice of your choice, and orange rind. Cool. Serve at room temperature (or warmed over ice cream!).
