Ingredients
  • 1/2 to 2/3 cup ground coffee
  • 1 egg
  • 2 - 3 tablespoons water
  • 1 quart boiling water

Directions
  1. Thoroughly mix ground coffee and egg with enough water to make a stiff slurry
  2. Place mixture in a lidded two-quart saucepan.
  3. In another saucepan, bring one quart of water to a rolling boil.
  4. Pour boiling water over the coffee mixture, making sure it is well mixed
  5. Heat the mixture to just at boiling point.
  6. Remove from heat, cover, let stand about 10 minutes; it is ready when the mat of coffee grounds sinks.
  7. Pour through a strainer into a serving pot

Got to be good. As prized as eggs and coffee was in that time, this person would have been charged with something for publishing a recipe on how to waste a egg and good coffee. \0
