This is one of my favorite sugar cookie recipes.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla or brandy ;)
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, finely chopped (optional)

Directions
  1. Cream butter, sugars and vanilla / brandy together.
  2. Add egg and mix well.
  3. Add flour, baking soda and salt and mix well.
  4. Add walnuts and stir.
  5. Form balls the size of walnuts.
  6. Roll in granulated sugar and press flat with the bottom of a glass or the tines of a fork.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes or until edges are a light brown.
