How to make it

  • Cut bratwurst crosswise into halves. Place bratwurst in an unheated, large skillet. Place over low heat and cook bratwurst about 10 minutes or till browned, turning occasionally.
  • Stir in water, chopped onion, chopped green pepper, beef bouillon granules, and dry mustard; mix well. Add cabbage wedges and carrot pieces to bratwurst mixture in skillet. cook, covered, about 20 minutes or till vegetables are tender.
  • Remove bratwurst, cabbage, and carrots to a platter; keep warm. Stir together milk and flour; add to mixture in skillet. Cook and stir till thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir 1 minute more. Pour over meat and vegetables on platter. Makes 4 servings.
  • For a different flavor, substitute knackwurst or Polish sausage for the bratwurst
