Ingredients
  • 1lb. Fresh or fully cooked bratwurst
  • 1 C Water
  • 1 med. Onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
  • 1/4 C Chopped green pepper
  • 2 tsp. Instant beef bouillon granules
  • 1 tsp. Dry mustard
  • 1 sm. Head cabbage, cored and cut into wedges
  • 4 med. Carrots, cut into
  • 1-inch pieces
  • 1/2 C Milk 3 tbsp All-purpose flour

Directions
  1. Cut bratwurst crosswise into halves. Place bratwurst in an unheated, large skillet. Place over low heat and cook bratwurst about 10 minutes or till browned, turning occasionally.
  2. Stir in water, chopped onion, chopped green pepper, beef bouillon granules, and dry mustard; mix well. Add cabbage wedges and carrot pieces to bratwurst mixture in skillet. cook, covered, about 20 minutes or till vegetables are tender.
  3. Remove bratwurst, cabbage, and carrots to a platter; keep warm. Stir together milk and flour; add to mixture in skillet. Cook and stir till thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir 1 minute more. Pour over meat and vegetables on platter. Makes 4 servings.
  4. For a different flavor, substitute knackwurst or Polish sausage for the bratwurst
