Beef and Onion Gratin

- 2 tablespoons cooking oil shopping list
- 1 pound lean ground beef shopping list
- 4 medium white onions, sliced shopping list
- 2 cups boiling water shopping list
- 1/2 cup onion water shopping list
- 1 can cream of celery soup shopping list
- 3 cloves minced garlic shopping list
- 2 tablespoons dry mustard shopping list
- 1 teaspoon white pepper shopping list
- 1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 2 tablespoons green onions shopping list
- 1 cup parmesan cheese shopping list
- 1/2 cup dry bread crumbs shopping list
- 6 tablespoons butter, melted shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350F. Heat oil in skillet, then brown beef well. Drain and set aside. Simmer onions in boiling water 10 minutes. Drain. Reserve 1/2 cup of onion water. To this add cream of celery soup, garlic, mustard, pepper, cheese, salt, green onions, mix well. Pour into a 2-quart baking dish, lightly greased. Bake 25 minutes. Combine Parmesan cheese, bread crumbs and butter. Mix well. Remove dish from oven and turn on broil. Spread cheese mixture on casserole and broil until brown (about 2 minutes).
