Apple Crisp in a Bag
From szq 14 years agoIngredients
- 4-5 cups peeled and sliced apples (I used 4 medium to large apples--do not use a tart apple) shopping list
- 3 Tbsp granulated sugar shopping list
- lemon juice--Enough to sprinkle on apples shopping list
- 1/2 cup regular rolled oats shopping list
- 2/3 cup packed brown sugar shopping list
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon shopping list
- 1 stick butter or margarine, softened shopping list
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional) shopping list
How to make it
- For filling: place fruit in a 2-quart baking dish. (8" or 9" square or round pan will work.) Sprinkle lemon juice on the apples to prevent them from browning. Stir in the granulated sugar.
- For topping: In a ziploc bag (or a medium bowl) combine the oats, brown sugar, flour and cinnamon. Slice the butter and put in the ziploc bag (or cut in butter mixture in the bowl until mixture resembles coarse crumbs) Smoosh the ziploc bag until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the nuts, if using.
- Sprinkle topping over apples.
- Cook now or cover and freeze.
- Bake uncovered at 350 for 40 to 45 mins (if frozen cook for 1 hour) or until apples are tender and topping is golden brown. If desired, serve warm with ice cream.
