cabbage rolls

- 1/2 lb veal ground shopping list
- 1/2 lb ground chuck shopping list
- 1/2 lb ground pork shopping list
- 3 cups cooked long grain rice shopping list
- 2 large cabbages shopping list
- 1-2 tablespoons garlic shopping list
- 2 lg cans tomato soup shopping list
- 3 cans tomato juice(i prefer v8 juice) shopping list
- salt and pepper shopping list
- 2 large cans tomatoes shopping list
- 1 lg can bavarian saurkraut(optional) shopping list
- 2 lg roasting pans shopping list
How to make it
- steam cabbages about 15 to 20 mins on high in microwave-or in lg pot
- leaves must be tender enough to roll and fold.
- brown meats in large saucepan until cooked through-add garlic, and lightly salt and pepper -i am hypertensive and diabetic so i use light salt and more pepper than most people-about 1 teaspoon light salt and a good teaspoon and a half of pepper.fold in cookec rice.add saurkraut if desired.
- carefully strip leaVes that are pliable -put a generous helping of meat mixture in center of leaf-fold in half and tuck under ends-toothpicks can secure the smaller ones
- place rolls in the roasting pans tucked side down-when pans are full cover each one with a large can of soup 1 can of broken up stewed tomatoes and cover with tomato juice or v8 juice-cook at 300 degrees tightly covered-make sure they are well covered with juice-they are done in about 2 hours-ther loger they cook the more tender and flavourful they will be-excellent dish to make the day before and take to a potluck dinner-also excellent with homemade bread with real butter-this is a ukraine dish-enjoy!!!
