From cougarwoman 14 years agoIngredients
- Preheat Oven to 400 degrees shopping list
- 2/3c. shortening 1t. salt shopping list
- 2C. sugar 1/2C.good cocoa powder shopping list
- 2 eggs + 2 Yolks 1C. sour milk, sour Soy shopping list
- 2T. coffee crystals milk, or sour buttermilk shopping list
- 2 1/2C. flour 1C. hot water shopping list
- 2t. Soda 2T. Good vanilla shopping list
- 1t. baking powder(Shake before using to activate it.) shopping list
How to make it
- Mix all the dry ingredients together and sift 7 times(7 is my number of choice, the more the better, lighter texture).
- Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy,
- Add eggs 1 at a time beating well inbetween each addition.
- Add dry ingredients alternately with the sour milk of choice.
- Add Vanilla and hot water.
- This will be an extremely thin batter.. It’s OKAY!! This is why it is moist..
- BAKE 35-45 mins. Until pick comes out clean.
- This Cake seems like it takes forever to assemble.. but it is worth it. Try it you’ll see.
- This is the ONLY Chocolate cake I’ll ever make..Store bought mix.. NAH.. Add red food color to make red velvet and cut Chocolate powder in !/2 adding as much red as you want. I use red paste color from craft/cake store.. Powder color os ok to. Am not a fan of liquids.. never have been. Paste colors are more brilliant.
