Flaming Fruit Salad

- 1lb. mixed dried fruit such as: shopping list
- prunes, apricots, figs, apples, pears and peaches (7-1/2c.) shopping list
- 2-1/2c. water shopping list
- 2tbs. sherry shopping list
- juice of 1/2 lemon shopping list
- 2tbs. honey shopping list
- 1/2 cinnamon stick shopping list
- 1/4c. brandy shopping list
- 3/4c. toasted sliced almonds shopping list
- 1/2c. coarsely chopped; walnuts shopping list
How to make it
- Soak dried fruit overnight in water and sherry.
- In a saucepan, place fruit and soaking liquid, lemon juice, honey and cinnamon stick. Cover and simmer over low heat until fruit is just tender. Discard cinnamon stick, transfer fruit to a serving dish and keep warm.
- In a small pan, heat brandy and light. While still flaming, pour over fruit and sprinkle with almonds and walnuts.
- Note; The effect of flaming brandy is to burn off the alcohol and so concentrates the flavor. It is important to warm brandy first or it will not light.
