- 1 cup baking soda shopping list
- 1/2 cup citric acid shopping list
- 1/2 cup corn starch shopping list
- 1/3 cup epsom salts shopping list
- Wet Ingredients: shopping list
- 2 1/2 tablespoon light oil of your choice (sweet almond oil, grapeseed, etc.) shopping list
- 3/4 tablespoon water shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon borax shopping list
- 5 to 10 drops yellow liquid food coloring shopping list
- spray bottle filled with witch hazle or water shopping list
How to make it
- Measure out the first three dry ingredients, combine in a sifter, and sift together until smooth. If you are using sea salt or epsom salt, add it to the dry mixture after sifting. Epsom salts seem to shorten the drying time, tend to give your bath bombs a bit of shine, and makes the fizzing action more vigorous. Set the dry ingredient mixture aside while you prepare the wet ingredient. Measure and combine all the wet ingredients, including the borax, in a small clean jar; cover tightly and shake vigorously. Slowly drizzle the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring constantly to prevent the fizzing starting. Make sure you mix in all of the wet ingredients. The mixture should be damp enough to hold together when pressed in your hand. If needed, mist with witch hazel or water. Make sure the bath bomb mixture is mixed throughly. Work fast to press the mixture into your molds or it will dry out too much before you mold it. If you're using a 2-part sphere, fill each side and then press together. Let bombs dry in the mold for a few hours. Larger spheres may need more drying time. Remove from mold and let dry for 1 week before use. Cover with tissue paper and store in an airtight container.
