tried my hand at a home-made egg nog last night, using this recipe from the Womans Home Companion Cook Book (pub. 1946). It was reeeaal nice :) not too dense, doesnt have that raw egg taste about it, and the fluffy whites on top are a nice addition i wouldnt have thought of doing. Read more I just used some of it today to make egg nog fudge, which has turned out superb :) See less
Ingredients
- 2 eggs, separated shopping list
- 2 Tbsp sugar shopping list
- 2 cups milk shopping list
- ½ tsp vanilla shopping list
- 3 Tbsp whiskey/brandy (or more or less ...i think more, yes??) shopping list
- nutmeg for the top shopping list
How to make it
- Beat egg whites with electric beater until stiff but not dry.
- In a jug, mix yolks with sugar. Gradually blend in milk.
- Add vanilla and alcohol then fold in egg whites. (Should be well combined, but still fluffy).
- Pour into glasses, making sure there’s a good amount of fluff on top of each, sprinkle with nutmeg and serve.
- Makes about 3 cups.
