Ingredients
  • 8-10 pound smoked picnic ham
  • apple juice
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3-4 tbsp apple jelly ( I always have apple jelly with kids in the home-any fruit spread will do )
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup (imitation is OK)

Directions
  1. Clean and remove skin and excess fat from ham.
  2. Place onto a cutting board.
  3. Slice shallow lines about 1 to 1 1/2 inches apart into ham making a diamond.
  4. Place ham into crock pot fatty side up.
  5. Cover ham with apple juice making sure it does not overflow.I have a large crock pot and I do not use all of the apple juice.
  6. Cook for 6 hours on low.
  7. Preheat oven to 375-400 degrees.
  8. Mix brown sugar, apple jelly and maple syrup together in bowl.
  9. Smooth onto ham that has been placed on a pan, making sure you apply into shallow cuts you have made.
  10. Bake for 30-40 minutes or until topping is bubbling and glazed.
  11. Let rest then slice and enjoy.
