- 700 g dates shopping list
- 700g flour self raising shopping list
- 700g sugar and golden syrup (half and half) shopping list
- 2 pints warm water shopping list
- 2 tablespoon bicarb of soda shopping list
- 1 tablespoon of ground ginger shopping list
- 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon shopping list
- 8 eggs shopping list
- 250g butter shopping list
- vanilla essence shopping list
How to make it
- bring to boil in large pan water,dates and sugar until dates have dissolved to a pulp
- add butter leave to cool stirring so often
- when cooled to room temp add flour bicarb and flavourings then puree till smooth
- pour into a deep tray lined with greaseproof paper tray must be 4 inch deep at least
- bake in oven for 90 mins more or less at 180oc
- peel off paper and cut into portions.
