Creamed Sweet Peas

- 1 large family size pkg of frozen sweet green peas ( 4 to 5 cups ) shopping list
- 2 cups chicken broth or vegetable broth or water shopping list
- 2/3 cup cream or half and half shopping list
- 6 Tbs butter or margarine shopping list
- 4 Tbs of cornstach or as needed shopping list
- 1Tbs sugar or Splenda or to taste shopping list
- dash of nutmeg shopping list
- 1 Tbs fresh chopped chives shopping list
- salt and pepper to taste shopping list
How to make it
- Place frozen peas in a large pot.
- Add the butter or margarine
- Cover with liquid of choice.
- Heat and stir over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil
- Meanwhile dissolve the cornstarch and sugar in the cold cream
- Then add to the hot peas anbd cook and stir over medium heat till thick ened
- Remove from heat because once thick, do not overcook the peas or they change their bright bright green color
- Stir in the chives and season to taste with salt, pepper and nutmeg
