Fried Chicken Livers
From windy1950 14 years agoIngredients
- 4 slices bacon shopping list
- 1 medium chopped onion shopping list
- 1 lb chicken livers shopping list
- 1 cup buttermilk shopping list
- 1 cup self-rising flour shopping list
- 1/2 tsp salt shopping list
- 1/4 tsp black pepper shopping list
How to make it
- In medium size skillet, fry bacon, crumble and set aside. Saute onion in the remaining bacon fat and set aside.
- Meanwhile, combine livers and buttermilk and let stand 10 minutes. Drain in a colander; dredge livers in flour, salt and pepper.
- Add vegetable oil to bacon fat, if needed, to make a thin layer of fat in the skillet. Turn heat to medium; allow to get hot but not smoking.
- Fry livers until brown, turning occasionally with spatula. Return the crumbled bacon and onion to the skillet after browning the livers and allow to heat through.
