Avocado and Beef Torta

- 1 fully ripened Mexican avocado halved pitted and peeled shopping list
- 1 tablespoon lime juice shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon salt divided shopping list
- 1/8 teaspoon ground red pepper shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder shopping list
- 1 pound flank steak shopping list
- 1 loaf Italian bread shopping list
- 1 cup torn salad greens shopping list
- 1 ripe large tomato thinly sliced shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat broiler.
- In small bowl mash avocado with a fork then stir in lime juice, 1/4 teaspoon salt and red pepper.
- In a cup combine cumin, chili powder and remaining salt.
- Rub seasoning mixture over both sides of steak then place on rack in a broiler pan.
- Broil steak 3” from heat source 7 minutes per side.
- Remove to a cutting board and let rest 5 minutes then cut diagonally in thin slices.
- Split bread horizontally almost through.
- Spread avocado mixture on top half then layer salad greens, beef and tomato on bottom of loaf.
- Close sandwich and cut crosswise in 4 pieces.
