Five Grain Loaf

- 1 c. 5 grain cereal shopping list
- 1 1/2 c. buttermilk shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 1/4 c. brown sugar shopping list
- 1/4 c. maple syrup (optional) shopping list
- 1/3 c. melted butter shopping list
- 2 c. flour shopping list
- 1/2 c. chopped dried fruit, your choice shopping list
- 1 tsp. baking powder shopping list
- 1 tsp. baking soda shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. salt shopping list
- 1 tsp. cinnamon shopping list
How to make it
- Combine cereal and buttermilk. Let stand for 10 minutes. Add egg, sugar, syrup if using and butter. Mix well.
- Combine dry ingredients. Fold into wet, stir just to combine. Fold in fruit.
- Spoon into greased 9 x 5 loaf pan, (you can sprinkle the top with demerra sugar before baking for a "crust", if you like), bake at 350 degrees 45 minutes or until a cake tester (I use a piece of raw spaghetti) comes out clean.
- Let cool, slice and enjoy.
