How to make it

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees
  • Grease and dust with flour two 9 inch round cake pans
  • Sift together flour, cocoa, salt & baking powder in a large bowl and set aside.
  • Sift sugar separate and set aside.
  • Cream butter and sugar until fluffy
  • Beat in eggs 1 at a time making sure not to overbeat.
  • Add vanilla
  • Beat in red food color - scrape down sides of bowl with spatula
  • Alternate adding flour mix and buttermilk (4 times) ending with flour Dissolve baking soda and vinegar in a glass bowl - add to batter at medium speed.
  • Bake 25 30 min or until tooth pick inserted in center comes out clean
  • Frosting - place cream cheese, butter in mixing bowl and beat until smooth. Add sugar and beat. Batter will become creamy - add more sugar to suit your taste
