Amazing Red Velvet Cake With Cream Cheese Frosting

- (cake ingredients) shopping list
- 2 1/2 cups cake flour or 2 1/4 regular flour shopping list
- 3 tablespoons cocoa shopping list
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder shopping list
- 3/4 cup butter - softened shopping list
- 2 cups sugar shopping list
- 3 eggs shopping list
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 2 - 1 oz bottles food color shopping list
- 3 tablespoons water shopping list
- 1 cup buttermilk shopping list
- 1 teaspoon baking soda shopping list
- 1 tablespoon vinegar shopping list
- (frosting ingredients) shopping list
- 1 - 8 oz pkg of cream cheese shopping list
- 1 stick of butter shopping list
- 1 pkg of confectioners sugar (10x powdered sugar) shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract shopping list
How to make it
- Heat oven to 350 degrees
- Grease and dust with flour two 9 inch round cake pans
- Sift together flour, cocoa, salt & baking powder in a large bowl and set aside.
- Sift sugar separate and set aside.
- Cream butter and sugar until fluffy
- Beat in eggs 1 at a time making sure not to overbeat.
- Add vanilla
- Beat in red food color - scrape down sides of bowl with spatula
- Alternate adding flour mix and buttermilk (4 times) ending with flour Dissolve baking soda and vinegar in a glass bowl - add to batter at medium speed.
- Bake 25 30 min or until tooth pick inserted in center comes out clean
- Frosting - place cream cheese, butter in mixing bowl and beat until smooth. Add sugar and beat. Batter will become creamy - add more sugar to suit your taste
