How to make it

  • Place beans and liquid in pan, partially mash beans with potato masher.
  • Place over high heat, stir in salsa, chili powder and broth. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes.
  • Ladle soup into bowl and garnish with cheese, sour cream and cilantro.
  • note: I didn't have fresh cilantro so I just added a couple of teaspoons dried into the soup pot
  • I think some frozen corn added a would be good next time
