How to make it

  • Sift together flour, cocoa and salt; set aside.
  • Combine 1 Cup Cold Water and soda; set aside.
  • In a mixing bowl blend shortening and sugar; add eggs and vanilla and cream well.
  • Add wet and dry ingredients alternately.
  • Put batter into paper-lined cupcake pans and sprinkle chocolate chips on each; as much as you think look good. We used 10 chips per cupcake.
  • Bake at 375 degrees for 20-2 minutes.
  • No need to frost.
