Tropic Thunder Jerk Burgers

- Marinade: shopping list
- 1/2 cup chopped cilantro shopping list
- 1/2 cup chopped parsley shopping list
- 3 tbsp chopped fresh mint shopping list
- 3 tbsp chopped fresh thyme shopping list
- 1/2 cup chopped scallions shopping list
- 1 seeded, minced habanero pepper shopping list
- 5 cloves minced garlic shopping list
- 2 tsp grated fresh ginger shopping list
- 1 tbsp ground allspice shopping list
- 1 tsp cloves shopping list
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon shopping list
- 2 tbsp olive oil shopping list
- 1/4 cup red wine vinegar shopping list
- 2 tbsp zinfandel wine shopping list
- 1 tbsp Jamaican rum shopping list
- 1/4 cup tamari shopping list
- 1 tbsp water shopping list
- 2 tbsp demerara sugar shopping list
- 3 tbsp lime juice shopping list

- Burgers: shopping list
- 1 lb extra-lean ground beef shopping list
- 1 lb ground turkey breast meat shopping list
- 2 tsp smoked sea salt shopping list
- 1/2 cup prepared Jerk marinade (above) shopping list
- 3 tbsp diced or crushed pineapple, well drained shopping list
How to make it
- To make the marinade, combine all the ingredients in a blender and puree.
- In a large bowl, combine beef, turkey, salt, 1/2 cup marinade and diced pineapple.
- Mix gently (your hands are the best tool for this) and form into 6 patties, avoiding compacting the meat as much as possible. Place on a platter, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate 1 hour.
- Preheat grill to medium-high and brush grate with oil.
- Place the patties on the rack and brush with marinade.
- Cover and cook 6 minutes, then turn and brush other side with marinade.
- Re-cover and cook 5-6 minutes longer, until cooked through.
- Serve on your choice of crusty bread or rolls.
