Hot Ginger Tea

- 1 quart water shopping list
- 1/3 lb fresh ginger, peeled, thinly sliced, smashed shopping list
- 1 cup packed dark brown sugar shopping list
- pinch salt shopping list
- 1/4 cup pine nuts, toasted shopping list
- Canton ginger liqueur, almond liqueur or brandy to taste (optional) shopping list
How to make it
- In a medium saucepan, combine water, ginger, sugar, and salt. Simmer, partially covered, on low heat about 25 minutes or longer for stronger infusion. Strain and pour into 6 Asian-size teacups. Add 2 tsp pine nuts to each cup. Stir in liqueur, to taste.
