How to make it

  • In a medium saucepan, heat sugar and 2 cups of water to a boil.
  • Stir to dissolve sugar.
  • Simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Let cool.
  • Refrigerate syrup until chilled.
  • Squeeze approximately 12 lemons to get 2 cups of juice...I bought a 3 lb, bag of lemons at Sam's Club and it was the perfect amount.
  • In a pitcher, mix the remaining water, lemon juice, and chilled syrup.
  • Serve in tall glasses over ice.
  • Garnish with lemon slices and mint leaves, if desired.

    Yum! Limeade! That would be delicious too! It really is easy...I'm sure it would be easier if I'd had a juicer and didn't have to squeeze 3 lbs of lemons by hand! But it was totally worth it!
