Stromboli / Calzone

- Dough shopping list
- 3 cups bread flour shopping list
- 1 cup water shopping list
- 1 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 3 table spoons dehydrated minced onions shopping list
- 2 table spoons sugar shopping list
- 1 table spoon italian seasoning shopping list
- 2 table spoons olive oil shopping list
- 2 teaspoons yeast shopping list
- Filling shopping list
- 1/2 pound hot Italian sausage shopping list
- 2 tablespoons thinly sliced seeded and stemmed jalapenos shopping list
- 1 head of roasted garlic paste shopping list
- 1/2 pound thinly sliced pepperoni or salami shopping list
- 1 can sliced or chopped black olives shopping list
- 2 cups grated mozzarella shopping list
- 1/4 cup grated provolone shopping list
- 1/4 cup parmesan shopping list
- 1/4 cup romano cheese shopping list
- 1/4 cup asiago cheese shopping list
- If you do not feel like buying all the cheeses and grating you can get italian blend cheese pre-grated shopping list
- Dipping sauce shopping list
- 8 oz can tomato sauce shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon dehydrated minced onion shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic dehydrated or fresh shopping list
- 1 teaspoon italian seasoning shopping list
How to make it
- 1. Place ingredients in the pan of the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select dough cycle; press Start.
- 2. remove dough from bread machine when cycle is complete and bread has risen. Roll out dough to about 1/4 inch in thicknes. It should be About 16 x 12 inches
- 3. Cut off the top 1/3 of the garlic heads. Place the garlic heads (cut side up) in a small baking dish or wrapped in foil. Pour the olive oil over the garlic. Sprinkle with a little salt and pepper.
- 4. Cover the dish with a lid or aluminum foil and bake for about 1 hour. Remove dish from oven and let cool until you can handle the garlic with your hands.
- 5. Into a medium bowl, squeeze the garlic cloves out of their skins. mash together with a fork until the paste has a smooth consistency
- 6. cook and drain italian sausage
- 7. preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- 8. on half of the rectangle layer fillings from one end to the other along the longest part of the dough. Beginning with cheese, layer all the way down the center, then add next layer using jalapeno and pepperoni, then layer italian sausage, and finish with a layer of olives.
- 9. on other side of rectangle spread garlic paste. 10. fold the dough over and seal edges
- 11. bake for 20 to 30 minutes or until golden brown
- 12. While baking stromboli / calzone make your dipping sauce by adding all ingredients to sauce pan and cooking on low while stromboli / Calzone is baking. You can make this before and put on dough first but dough may not cook through properly on the bottom
