How to make it

  • In a large mixing bowl, cream the sugar and shortening until light and fluffy
  • Add the eggs, one at a time
  • Beat well after each addition
  • Beat in the water
  • Combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt
  • Mix well
  • Stirin the oats, raisins, and walnuts
  • On a surface sprinkled with additional sugar or colored sugar, roll out the dough to 1/4 inch thickness
  • Cut out with desired cookie cutters
  • Place 2 inch apart onto greased baking sheets
  • Bake at 350 F for 12-15 minutes or until set
  • Remove to wire racks to cool
