How to make it

  • arrange tomatoes in a large oven-proof skillet, cored side up.
  • sprinkle with sugar, salt and pepper.
  • dot with butter.
  • Bake until tomatoes are tender and lightly browned, about 1 hour, basting with juices about every 15 min.
  • Transfer skillet to stove-top. Simmer over low heat basting every 5 min until sauce is thick and syrupy. about 25 min.
  • 400 degrees
