The Essential Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

- 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks, 6 oz.) unsalted butter shopping list
- 2/3 cup (5 1/4 oz.) dark brown sugar shopping list
- 2/3 cup ( 4 3/4 oz.) granulated sugar shopping list
- 2 tbsp (1 1/4 oz.) light corn syrup shopping list
- 1 tbsp cider vinegar or white vinegar shopping list
- 2 large egg shopping list
- 1 tbsp vanilla shopping list
- 1/2 tsp salt shopping list
- 1/2 tsp baking powder shopping list
- 1/4 tsp baking soda shopping list
- 2 1/4 cups (9 1/2 oz.) unbleached flour shopping list
- 3 cups (18 oz.) semisweet chocolate chips shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat the oven to 375 F
- Lightly grease (or line with parchment) two baking sheets
- In a medium-sized mixing bowl, cream together the butter, both of the sugars, corn syrup, and vinegar
- Beat in the eggs
- Beat in the vanilla, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
- Stir in the flour and the chocolate chips
- Drop the dough by the tablespoonful onto the prepared baking sheets
- Bake the cookies for 10 minutes or until they are just set.
- Note: the centers may still look a bit underdone
- Remove them from the ovennn
- Transfer to a rack to cool
