Aunt Jean's Greek Pastitsio

- 8 oz ziti pasta shopping list
- 1 lb. ground turkey or (beef) shopping list
- 1 onion, chopped, 1/2 cup shopping list
- 3 cloves garlic, minced shopping list
- 1 can 15 oz. tomato sauce shopping list
- 3 Tbsp. fresh parsley shopping list
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano shopping list
- 1/2 tsp salt shopping list
- 1/2 pepper shopping list
- 1/4 ground cinnamon shopping list
- 1/2 Romano, grated shopping list
- 5 eggs, room temperature shopping list
- 1 jar alfredo sauce shopping list
How to make it
- Cook pasta to al dente, drain.
- Preheat oven to 350 F. In skillet over medium heat cook turkey, onion and garlic. until browned, drain and reduce heat to low. Stir in next 6 ingredients and cook for 5 more minutes. Spread half of the pasta in ungreased 3 qt baking dish. Sprinkle with 1/4 cup Romano. Top with turkey.
- In bowl, using mixer on medium speed, beat eggs until thick and fluffy about 3 minutes.
- Reduce speed to low and gradually beat in Alfredo sauce. Sauce will thin slightly.
- Immediately pour sauce over pasta, sprinkle remaining Romano over top.
- Bake until top is slightly puffed and browned. 50-55 minutes.
- Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
