Jellied Biscuits

- 2 c. flour shopping list
- 4 tsp. baking powder shopping list
- 2 tsp. sugar shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. salt shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar shopping list
- 1/2 c. vegetable shortening shopping list
- 3/4 c. milk shopping list
- 1/3 c. jelly, approximately (I've also used jam and preserves) shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 450 F. Prepare baking sheet with parchment paper or by greasing.
- Combine all dry ingredients and cut in shortening with a pastry cutter or two knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add milk, stirring quickly with fork until just mixed.
- Drop by rounded tablespoons onto prepared baking sheet.
- Made a deep thumbprint in the center of each biscuit. Fill each thumbprint with a 1 tsp. of jelly (or jam or preserves).
- Put in preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes or until biscuits are brown.
