Ingredients
  • Flippers from 1 Bearded Seal
  • Fresh blubber

Directions
  1. Place flippers in enough blubber to completely cover. Let sit for two weeks.
  2. After two weeks, remove from blubber.
  3. Remove fur.
  4. Cut into chunks and serve.

I have a native Alaskan housemate, and collect native Alaskan recipes. :) Seal meat and seal fat are staples for the old native population up there. I've been wanting to get ahold of some because it's so high in omega-3 oils, but you can't get it out of Alaska for cooking. I have recipes that render the fat a bit more safely from the skin than leaving it to sit... I'll look them up. :) (PS: while I'd be happy to eat seal, I'd never eat whale. Seals are neat animals, but whales are sentient in my opinion. Like eating chimpanzees or apes or human. Nope, wouldn't do it.)
