Scottish Shortbread

- 1 cup whole wheat flour/ Refined flour shopping list
- 1/2 cup butter shopping list
- 1/4 cup sugar shopping list
- 1/2 a teaspoon of vanilla essence shopping list
- A pinch of baking powder shopping list
- Optional: a spoon of cornflour shopping list
How to make it
- Whisk the butter and sugar together till it becomes creamy. Add the vanilla essence and keep aside.
- Sift the flour, (optional: cornstarch) and baking powder together. Add in the creamy mixture and fold in till it becomes a thick dough. [Tip: Make the dough into a ball to easily remove it later]
- Keep the dough in the refridgerator for atleast an hour.
- Roll out the dough and cut into little biscuits or bars. Prick all over with a fork and place it on a baking tray.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 175 degrees celcius for around 10 minutes.
- Allow it to cool and serve; advisable toppings are chocolate spread, jam or icing sugar.
