How to make it

  • Mix cornstarch, flour and seasoning until well blended then add beer and mix well.
  • Cut 3/4" off onion then peel onion and cut into 16 vertical wedges but do not cut through bottom.
  • Remove 1” of petals from center of onion.
  • Dip cut onion in seasoned flour and remove excess by shaking then dip in batter.
  • Shake to remove excess batter from onions.
  • Separate petals to coat thoroughly with batter.
  • Mix batter after standing to blend ingredients.
  • Gently place onions in fryer basket and deep fry at 400 degrees for 1-1/2 minutes.
  • Turn over and fry 1-1/2 minutes longer.
  • Drain on paper towels.
  • Place onion upright in shallow bowl and remove center core with circular cutter or apple corer. Serve hot with sauce.
  • To make sauce combine all ingredients and mix well.
