Great Grandmother's Green Bean Salad

- 1lb Fresh whole young green beans (haricots), stemmed shopping list
- about 1/4c finely minced white onion shopping list
- 2tablespoons white vinegar shopping list
- 2tablespoons granulated white sugar shopping list
- 1cup half & half shopping list
- fresh ground black pepper to taste shopping list
How to make it
- cook beans till just tender, and chill in ice water to stop cooking.
- in a glass bowl, place minced onion, sugar, and vinegar. stir well to dissolve sugar. add half & half and thoroughly stir together. add drained green beans and gently toss together to thoroughly coat. cover dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate over night. this should be gently tossed several more times to coat beans well. before serving, grind fresh black pepper to taste and toss. wonderful summer alternative to usual 3bean salad.
