French Toast Casserole

- 1 loaf French bread, cut into 1-inch cubes (I guess about 10 cups) shopping list
- 8 eggs shopping list
- 3 cups whole milk shopping list
- 3 teaspoons sugar shopping list
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract shopping list
- raisins or craisins, optional shopping list
- 3/4 tespoon salt shopping list
- Topping: shopping list
- 2 tablespoons butter, cubed shopping list
- 3 tablespoons sugar shopping list
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon shopping list
- maple syrup, optional shopping list
How to make it
- Place bread cubes in a greased 13x9x2 inch baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, beat eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, raisins or craisins if desired, and salt.
- Pour over bread cubes.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight.
- Remove from the refrigerator 30 minutes before baking.
- Dot with butter.
- Combine sugar and cinnamon.
- Sprinkle over the top.
- Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let stand 5 minutes before cutting and serving.
- Serve with syrup if desired.
