How to make it

  • Marinate pork in (A) for 10 mins. Heat 1 tbsp oil in wok and stir fry arrowroots till golden brown and scoop out and set aside. Add another tbsp oil in wok and sauté garlic and nam yu till fragrant. Add marinated pork and stir fry till they are whitish in color. Add arrowroots and mix well. Add 1 cup water and bring to boil. Add ½ tsp sugar and mix well. Add balance of ½ cup water and turn heat to medium and let simmer till gravy is thicken, arrowroots are soft and pork is cooked.

    Thank you very much for sharing this traditional dish! It is u common and not offered by restaurants. The dish brings back fond memories. When I was a child and enjoyed this dish with hot steam rice lovingly prepared by my late aunt. Look forward to more of your recipes of home cooked food.

    Sharebear1...(nam yu) fermented beancurd in English is Soybean Cheese, arrow root or Chinese potato you can find in Chinese markets during the winter or substitutes with water chestnuts or jicama...I'm thinking it's really not worth the trouble. sorry but where's the flavor?

    I would love to try some of your recipes! Too bad im not sure where to look for ingredients, ive checked a few ethnic stores, but havent had luck, and a lot of its in another language. But your pictures are great and look delicious ;)
