How to make it

  • In a large bowl, combine the first 6 ingredients. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add raisins. In a small bowl, combine milk and syrup; stir into the crumb mixture just until moistened.
  • Turn onto a lightly floured surface; knead 8-10 times. pat or roll out to 1/2" thickness; cut with a floured 2 1/2" biscuit cutter.
  • Place biscuits 1" apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 450 for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Meanwhile, combine the powdered sugar, vanilla and enough milk to achieve the desired consistency to drizzle over the warm biscuits.
